Brief: Design a way for people to experience The Hoffmann Centre collections.
Team: Eric, Giada, Luchen, Binru
In the last week, our group has confirmed the final design concept. In order to improve the experience and deepen the meaning of this game, we have outlined four questions:
1. Who is the game for?
2. Why do the players want to play this game?
3. In what way the users will touch this game?
4. When the players finish this game, what will the players get?
We will focus on these four questions to make our game better.
Improvement of the RPG game
Our target user groups can be divided into the two categories below:
1. University students with interest in sustainability and healthy environments.
2. University lecturers are aiming to enhance student’s learning experience and engagement with the curriculum.
For role-playing games, the storyline of the game is essential. Whether players want to play the game or not depends on how good the storyline is. Therefore, our group decided to write an exciting background story for the game, while each character within the game has a different storyline.
Due to time constraints, our group has decided to design the storyline and missions for the “Resident” character. If we have time later, we will continue to design the storylines for the other two characters.

The game will be integrated into the Hoffman Centre’s website under a new ‘Education’ tab.
Where is the fun in the game?
1. Players are learning through an immersive gaming experience.
2. The knowledge in the game is relevant to real life.
3. Players can get physical rewards from the Hoffman Centre.
Learning outcomes:
1. Players learn what elements make up a healthy built environment.
2. Players learn about the influence of different cultures on the living environment and the complexity of individual needs.
3. Players get a better understanding of eco-friendly materials.
Project feedback & Reflection
After introducing our work to our tutors and classmates, they thought our game is fun and engage, and they also gave us some helpful feedback. The tutors suggested that we should elaborate on the powers that players have in the game and why they have them.
Our group thought we could find more potential users so that more people could get knowledge from the game.
Next step
After defining the story of the game, we plan to make a game demo in the next week and integrate the knowledge from the online library into the game.
